The best things
are found off-trail.

A Whitehorse wilderness experience company built around a simple belief: the direct path isn't always the most interesting one.

wayward
/ ˈweɪ · wərd /  adjective

Following one's own capricious inclinations; turning or changing irregularly; departing from an expected or desired course.

Owner, Operator & Guide

I was born in Whitehorse, grew up in BC, and spent two seasons guiding sea kayak expeditions in the Bay of Fundy before the Yukon pulled me back north. When I returned, one of the first things I did was wander into the pine forest — and finding a fuzzy crocus pushing through the ground, I knew I was home.

For 15 years I worked in mineral exploration in the Dawson area, spending long seasons in some of the most remote corners of the territory. That work deepened my respect for Yukon's wild places and ecosystems — the plants, the animals, the quiet complexity of it all. It also instilled a strong safety culture that I carry into everything I do. I hold Wilderness and Intermediate First Aid certifications and take that responsibility seriously on every tour.

In 2022 I moved back to Whitehorse and rediscovered disc golf — a game I'd loved in high school that had grown into something special here. I've been playing as much as the Yukon summer allows ever since.

Wayward Birdie Tours grew out of a simple desire to share what I love. The disc golf, the trails, the wildness of this place. Our family spends summers camping, canoeing, fishing, hiking, and foraging — picking berries and spruce tips is a seasonal ritual we look forward to every year. That curiosity for the natural world shapes every tour I lead.

This isn't just a business. It's how we live.

🥏
The Name

"Wayward Birdie" is a disc golf term for a shot that finds its own path — and a nod to the migratory birds that pass through the Yukon each season, and to the free-spirited travellers who find their way here.
